Broad-rage of humanoid and related exhibition is welcome.
  • Humanoid that can play soccer
  • Humanoid that can walk
  • Upper-Torso humanoid with high-level cognition
  • Technologies related to humanoid robots

For those who wish to exhibit humanoid in motion, we can allocate time and space for such demonstration.

RoboCup Humanoid League

The RoboCup Federation will start humanoid league from RoboCup-2002 Japan.
While detailed regulations are under construction, it is most likely that following categories are created:
  • Small Size Humanoid (H-60): Maximum height is less than 60cm
  • Middle Size Humanoid (H-120): Maximum height is less than 120cm
  • Large Size Humanoid (H-180): Maximum height is less than 180cm

Initially, each team consists of up to three robots, but the number will increase to five (5), seven (7), and then to eleven (11) with maturity of the technology.

It is assumed that these humanoids are fully autonomous.
However, some practical industrial applications require tele-operation of humanoid robots. Due to their high DOF, tele-operation of humanoid is an important technical challenge.
Thus, for humanoid league, there will be two control categories:
  • Fully-Autonomous
  • Tele-Presence

RoboCup Humanoid Athletic

Although humanoid soccer is an exciting challenge, it is more feasible that basic motion capabilities are evaluated. Thus, RoboCup offers challanges for humanoid researchers in following categories:
  • Humanoid 100cm run/walk
  • Humanoid 1000cm run/walk
This category evaluate speed that humanoid can run/walk 100cm/1000cm track. A simple evaluation, yet clearly demonstrate the progress of humanoid motion capability. The RoboCup Federation authorizes the official world records.
