Call For Participation: RoboCup-Rescue 2000

RoboCup-2000 in Melbourne will have the first demonstration of RoboCup-Rescue, a new domain of the RoboCup. RoboCup-Rescue is aimed to promote research in developing robotic infrastructure systems able to be of aid in rescue missions by applying the RoboCup technology and methodology. It consists of a simulation project and robotics & infrastructure project. Please check the RoboCup web page for more information about the initiative.

RoboCup-Rescue Simulation Demonstration

In Melbourne, the RoboCup-Rescue simulator prototype will become open to the public. It consists of distributed simulators of urban earthquake disasters, a geographic information system with a real map of Kobe City, 2d/3d viewers, and agents of firefighters, police, civilians, etc. The strategy and planning of behavior in this virtual disaster field will be considered as a competition. Alpha testers are welcome to prepare the initial demonstration in Melbourne. If you are interested in participating in the simulation project as an alpha tester, send a mail to r-resc@isi.edu.

RoboCup-Rescue Search and Rescue Robot Demonstration

The RoboCup-Rescue real robot competition will be demonstrated. The detailed competition rules and regulations for the future are under open discussion in collaboration with AAAI Urban Search and Rescue Contest and RoboFesta Rescue Robot Contest. In RoboCup-2000, a competition field similar to the AAAI (http://www.cs.swarthmore.edu/~meeden/aaai00/contest.html) will be prepared in order to activate the discussion for the future.
