1999/12/11 RoboCup at Smithsonian Institute On December 11, 1999, the Lemelson Center of the Smithsonian Institute organized public demonstration of robotics, and the exhibition game of RoboCup small size league between CMUnited (Carnegie Mellon University) and the Big Red (Cornell University), and demonstration of Sony Legged Robot league were performed. Over 600 people rushed into a crowded room, and the organizer had to schedule extra demonstrations to cope with popularity of the event for general public.
