1999 Autumn RoboCupRescue RoboCup initiates the grand challenge project focusing on search and rescue for large scale disasters. RoboCupRescue technical committee (Chair, Satoshi Tadokoro, Kobe Univ.) is now working hard to formalize activity plans for RoboCupRescue Initiaitve. It will directly aims at AI and robotics contribution to socially significant problems, saving lives of people at large scale disasters, such as earthquake. The committee is also investigating specifications of RoboCupRescue Simulator Environment, that is expected to be an integrated simulator for search and rescue.
