The RoboCup Americas Super Regional Event, is an annual competition that unites middle and high school robotics teams from North, Central, South America and the Caribbean. The event will feature competitions in RoboCupJunior Rescue, Soccer, and OnStage categories, providing a platform for students to showcase their skills, foster international collaboration, and prepare for global International competitions.
This will be the platform for Primary students to compete beyond local or national events, as
Primary competitions were removed from the international competition after 2014. Since then,
Primary competitions have been moved to Super Regional events. However, since there has not
been a Canadian Super Regional competition in the Americas, the 1st one being USA 2025, this
opportunity has been lacking for our younger students in the Americas.
RoboCup promotes robotics and STEM education through hands-on, engaging team
competitions. The existing international, national, and regional events have significantly boosted
interest and skills in robotics among young students. An Americas Super Regional Event would
take this a step further, creating a preparatory platform for teams aspiring to compete at an
intermediate international level or a space to compete on a more challenging level that may be
less expensive. As well, it can help strive for participation at the Major leagues going forward.
Canada has been hosting national events in RoboCupJunior since the early 2004’s. National
events have been hosted in Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver. In 2018, Montreal hosted the
international RoboCup competition. There is a vibrant and active RoboCupJunior community in
Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. The RoboCup community is growing and having a Super
Regional event in the Americas with an International edge will help encourage that growth. At the
national events, we have junior teams competing in Rescue Line, Rescue Maze, Rescue
Simulation, OnStage, Soccer Open, and Soccer Lightweight.
